IME Tests Explosives Risk Modeling Software

The Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) has begun beta testing of commercial explosive risk modeling software, IMESAFR.  IMESAFR is being developed for IME by APT Research, a leading provider of independent analyses and recommendations in systems engineering, quantitative risk assessment, explosives safety, and software development and modeling.  IMESAFR is intended to supplement and fill gaps in current methods of commercial explosives risk management.  A team of experts from IME, the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) and six government agencies meet regularly to review progress and make recommendations.  The first version of IMESAFR is expected to be available by the end of 2006.

Learn more about IMESAFR by reading an article that was submitted to the ISEE Journal of Explosives Engineering by IME’s Risk Assessment Subcommittee Chair, Dr. David Leidel and other subcommittee members.
