Institute of Makers of Explosives Names John Boling as Vice President of Government Affairs

The Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME), the safety and security organization of the commercial explosives industry, announces the promotion of John Boling to the position of Vice President of Government Affairs.

"John brings a wealth of lobbying, legislative and association experience to the position. Having served as Director of Government Affairs for IME since October 2015, he demonstrated his abilities on numerous occasions and is well versed in the issues that impact our members, instilling confidence in the Board of Directors and members," said IME President Deb Satkowiak.

"With the retirement of Executive Vice President, Cynthia Hilton, who led IME's Government Affairs function since 1999, there is a significant void in institutional knowledge and ability related to Capitol Hill.  We look forward to having John lead our advocacy team to work cooperatively with a new Congress and Administration in Washington," she added.

Boling brings more than two decades of experience to the position having served in the U.S. Army Reserves, as legislative staff for five Members of Congress, including current House Transportation & Infrastructure Chairman, Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA), and with three different associations, including the National, Stone, Sand & Gravel Association, whose members rely on explosives to operate.

Founded in 1913, the IME represents U.S. manufacturers of high explosives and other companies that distribute explosives or provide related services.  Commercial explosives are used in every state of the union and are distributed worldwide.  The value of IME member shipments is estimated at $2 billion annually.  The ability to manufacture and distribute these products safely and securely is critical to this industry and to the mining, construction, and demolition industries that use our products.  IME's Safety Library Publications cover all aspects related to the safe and secure manufacture, transport, storage, use and disposal of commercial explosives.  The Institute does not sponsor trade shows or other marketing events.
