Rep. Curbelo Picks up the Baton in the House to Deny Transfers of Explosives to Terrorists
06/24/2016
Following in the steps of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) introduced legislation to close the so-called “terror gap,” including provisions that would deny transfers of explosives to terrorists. The terror gap exists because being on a terrorist watch list is not a disqualifying condition for those seeking to possess explosives or firearms. Both Presidents George Bush and Barack Obama have recommended closing this security gap. We urge the House to support of this critical but measured reform that will help ensure the terrorists are not inadvertently allowed access to explosive materials and products.
