IME Files Comments Opposing OSHA Silica Proposal

02/10/2014

Today, IME filed comments with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), opposing the agency’s proposal to lower the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL), for respirable crystalline silica.  IME’s comments, among other things, urged OSHA to suspend further action on the silica rulemaking pending reexamination of the need for the standard and its technical and economic feasibility.  IME also expressed its support for comments filed by the National Industrial Sand Association (NISA) and its “NISA Solution,” and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).  IME is a member of NAM.
