TWIC Under the Microscope Again
10/09/2013
IME filed a statement for the record in conjunction with the planned House Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee markup of HR 3202, legislation to implement GAO recommendations to look to options and new technology to improve the TWIC program. IME supports the TWIC program and suggests. Rather than a study to relook at the value of the program, IME recommends that Congress use this legislative opportunity to add value to the program by expanding options to use TWIC to satisfy vetting requirements under other security-based programs like CFATS. The markup was subsequently postponed due to continuation of the government shutdown.
