B. Todd Jones Confirmed to be ATF Director

Today, the Senate confirmed B. Todd Jones as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The Bureau has been without a director for seven years.  Six Republicans joined Senate Democrats to avert a filibuster.  The 60-40 vote crossed the threshold needed to limit debate and advance the nomination to a confirmation vote.  Jones was subsequently confirmed by a vote of 53 to 42.  IME welcomes this action having long supported the confirmation of an ATF director.
