Terrorism Gap Amendment Filed to Immigration Legislation

05/09/2013

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), filed an amendment to include legislation, S. 34, to S. 744, dealing with immigration reform.  S. 34 introduced by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, would give ATF authority to deny a license or permit to possess explosives to those deemed a security risk.  IME supports closing the so-called "terrorism gap" in ATF enforcement authority.  Markup on S. 744 is scheduled to begin today in the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Almost 300 amendments have been filed.
