MSHA Annoucement on Civil Penalties
Please find attached a copy of a news release posted on MSHA’s website today concerning its new civil penalty process. The news release can also be found at http://www.msha.gov/MEDIA/PRESS/2007/NR070918.asp. As of September 17, 2007, MSHA's Proposed Assessment forms will now be sent out via Federal Express and therefore will require a physical street address. P.O. Boxes and drawers can no longer be used. Please take a moment to be sure your address of record with MSHA is correct and is an actual physical address.

MSHA’s news release also announces a new address for mailing civil penalty payments. Beginning October 1, 2007, all payments for civil penalties must be mailed to: U.S. Department of Labor/MSHA, P.O. Box 790390, St. Louis, MO 63179-0390.
