Security Programs

The Institute works in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to promote security in all phases of industrial explosives operations.

The industry maintains a cooperative relationship with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to secure our facilities and supports the development of new technologies for explosives detection and bombing prevention that will enhance our national security.  We support the Transportation Security Administration National Explosives Detection Canine Program and the Transportation Security Laboratory in their efforts to enhance the security of explosives in transportation.

Our publication, SLP 27 - Security in Manufacturing, Transportation, Storage and Use of Commercial Explosives, applies to the general security of our products and  operations.

SLP 28 - Recommendations for Accountability and Security of Bulk Explosives and Bulk Security Sensitive Materials specifically addresses the security of bulk explosives operations.
