Vice President of Government Affairs
Michael Kennedy serves as the Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME), working to advance IME’s legislative and regulatory activities before Congress and the administration. Kennedy has spent over a decade advocating for safety & security issues for the private sector. As an attorney, he’s provided advocacy and counsel for three trade associations (Agricultural Retailers Assoc., the National Mining Assoc., and the Society of Chemical Manufacturers) on a breath of issues, served twice as the assistant chair of the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council and has vice-chaired the American Bar Association’s Homeland Security Institute. Prior to that, he was an expert for the Committee on Education and Workforce specializing in explosions and safety-related issues.
Kennedy is a native Philadelphian and loyal Eagles fan. He received his law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Delaware. He currently resides in Washington D.C. and was featured in National Geographic Museum for his international photography work.
