UNITAR -- Classifying and Labelling Chemicals According to the UN GHS
e-Learning course:  18 September - 29 November 2017
Learning Objectives:
This course consists of 4 modules covering the different classes of chemical hazards (physical, health & environmental).
It will be moderated by internationally-recognized experts with extensive experience who will interact with students and provide feedback and advice. This course contains practical elements, with various exercises and tests that help prepare participants for implementation of the GHS in their own work environments.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the international policy framework for the GHS and international chemicals' management;
  • Apply GHS criteria in classifying phycisal, health and environmental hazards;
  • Select appropriate hazard communication elements;
  • Develop classification for safety datasheets and GHS-based labels;
  • Develop effective hazard communication strategies adapted to specific contexts.
