Explosives Stolen from Job Site but Quickly Recovered

Several news organizations have reported the theft and very quick recovery of explosives deployed for seismic exploration this week.  Two suspects are in police custody and are expected to be charged with various offences, but there is no indication that the criminal activity was related to terrorism.

This should serve as a reminder to all users of explosives of the importance of IME’s recommendations for preventing unauthorized access to the blast site and blast area.  Normally, we think of these as fundamental safety requirements, but there is an important security aspect to them also.
