Safety, Health, & Environmental Affairs Committee
The Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA) Committee is responsible for evaluating and making recommendations to the Board of Governors on all matters relating to workplace safety and health and sustainability and the protection of the environment in the manufacture, transportation, storage, handling, use and disposal of explosive materials. The committee is also responsible for reviewing the Institute’s safety library publications relating to safety, health, and environmental matters and for making recommendations for changes, as appropriate. In addition, the committee develops and implements programs to promote understanding by the public of the value and necessity of explosives and their safe management and use.
