IME Endorses the Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act

Commercial Explosives Industry Joins Over 150 Organizations in Advocating for Congress to Reform Redundant Process

WASHINGTON – The Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) President Clark Mica today released the following statement of support for the Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act (H.R. 5840):

“Workers in the commercial explosives industry are already required to pass background checks. By passing the Transportation Security Screening Modernization Act, Congress can eliminate duplicative background checks and fees that do nothing to increase safety or security but do create burdens on our nation’s essential transportation workers. IME is proud to be one of over 150 organizations that include both business and labor to support Congress reforming this redundant process.”

IME signed onto a letter with over 150 organizations representing both business and labor that was sent today to U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN-7) and Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS-2).
