IME Recognizes Four Member Companies With Highest Award for Safety in 2022

Islamorada, Florida – During the Institute of Makers of Explosives Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet, the IME recognized four member companies with the prestigious Tricia Appleton Award for Safety for 2022.

The Tricia Appleton Award is based on the lowest total recordable incident rate (TRIR) reported to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and is given annually to IME member companies with zero safety incidents.

“The safety and security of the commercial explosives industry is the core of our mission at IME,” said IME President Clark Mica. “It is an honor to present these four companies with this prestigious award and recognize their commitment to safety in the workplace and in the communities in which they operate. Congratulations to all of the award winners – well done!”

The four companies receiving the Tricia Appleton Award include Contract Drilling and Blasting, MP Associates, Nelson Brothers, Inc. and Vets Explosives. 2022 marks the third straight year Vet’s Explosives has won the Appleton Award.

A long-time employee of IME Member Halliburton - Jet Research Center, the late Tricia Appleton was an advocate for safety and pushed to recognize those IME member companies with outstanding safety records.

“I want to congratulate this year’s Appleton Award winners,” said Tim O’Brien, President of Detotec North America, and Chairman of the IME Board of Governors. “These awards represent the constant efforts IME members are making to ensure a safe working environment for the dedicated men and women of the commercial explosives industry.”
