IME urges the Senate Committee on the Judiciary to advance the nomination of Mr. Robert Cekada to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Mr. Cekada brings unparalleled subject-matter expertise, proven leadership, and a deep understanding of the agency’s mission and responsibilities.
ATF’s regulations covering commercial explosives have not been comprehensively updated in more than 40 years. Modernizing these regulations, along with advancing the development and implementation of electronic forms for the commercial explosives industry, is a top priority for IME. IME appreciates Mr. Cekada’s stated commitment to these efforts, and we look forward to working together in partnership toward our shared goal of a safe and secure commercial explosives industry.
