FY 2013 Appropriations -- The Program Grows Despite Tough Budget Times
Today, the Senate Appropriations committee reported its version of the FY 2013 appropriations for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The Committee bill provides $1.153 billion for ATF, which is the same as the administration's budget request. The $1.153 billion mark is $1.3 million above the FY 2012 enacted level, and $41 million more than the FY 2011 actual distribution. The House Appropriations Committee has not yet marked up its version of this legislation. All appropriations bill much originate in the House. So, the Senate bill will not go to the Senate floor until a companion bill is received from the House.
