PHMSA Pulls Inspector Checklist from Website
04/10/2012
Following a letter from a coalition of explosives associations led by IME, PHMSA has removed its checklist guidance for inpectors from the PHMSA website.
IME joined with ASEPO, APA, and ISEE in comments to PHMSA on errors, omissions, clarifications and deficiencies with the PHMSA Class 1 inspectors guide. Our findings of fault with the document will require extensive re-writing. Consequently, we requested that PHMSA:
- Cease further distribution of the PHMSA Brochure;
- Publish notice that the PHMSA Brochure has been withdrawn pending revision;
- Remove the electronic version of the PHMSA Brochure from the PHMSA Webpage; and
-
Provide the impacted regulated community with a POC at PHMSA for anyone who may be inspected and subjected to unjustified citation or shipment delay based on this document.
