Law Enforcement and Forensics Support

IME has a long history of cooperation with federal law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives to support forensic efforts during investigations involving the criminal use of explosives.

As manufacturers of explosive materials, we have a special interest in doing everything possible to prevent the misuse of our products. Our industry promotes the safe storage of explosives and licensing of all purchasers, in order to keep industrial explosives out of the hands of terrorists.

We also work with government bodies to develop new technologies to safeguard the public and support efforts to develop detection and prevention technologies that will enhance our national security.  The IME supports the Transportation Security Administration Canine and Explosives Program and the Transportation Security Laboratory in their efforts to enhance security in the commerce of transportation.

Forensic Science

The forensic science community is continually seeking more accurate and expeditious methods of investigating crimes of all types, including the use of bombs by criminals and terrorists. IME supports investigative agencies and forensic laboratories by providing industry expertise and technical information to make the science of solving crime even more effective.

IME supports and participates in law enforcement and forensic programs such as those sponsored by the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators,  the National Center for Forensic Science and the Technical Working Group for Fire and Explosions (TWGFEX) in an effort to apply all possible resources to the solution of crimes involving the illegal use of explosives.
